Mesh Demister Pad
What is a Demister?
DEMISTERs are essential in many process operations for the removal of
entrained material in vapour flow. Demister ASIA’s Demisters and mist eliminators provide a wide range of
solutions suitable for any application.
The principle of a Demister operation is based on having a large number of obstacles
intercepting entrained droplets in a vapour flow. These obstacles
must provide minimum drop in pressure over the removal system.
Wire Mesh Demister
It can be made of various materials, depending on its use, and its
major materials are as per the below:
1. SUS304, 304L, SUS316, 316L, MONEL
2. P.P (POLY PROPYLENE), P.E (POLY ETHYLENE), TEFLON
Demister Separator Advantages:
Absolute separation of liquid particles greater than 10; for the
operation under extreme temperature and pressure; minimal pressure
For the filtration of natural gas
Demister of wire mesh pad is also known as mist eliminators or sprays. This
is a kind of high efficiency separation devices, used throughout
all kinds of process industries, to remove liquid droplets from gas
or vapor streams.
Wire mesh demister pads are used in chemical, petroleum, sulfate,
medicine, light industry, metallurgy, machine, building,
construction, aviation, shipping and environment protection.
Demister pad is mainly used to eliminate streams with diameter of
more than 3μm to 5μm.

How a Demister Works:
Mist eliminators/ Demisters are fabricated from knitted materials
with interlocking asymmetrical loops of metal or plastic with
typical diameters of 0.1 – 0.3mm. By careful choice of wire
diameter, DemisterASIA has produced demisters with extremely high
free volumes (typically 98 – 99%) along with very high removal
efficiency and low pressure drop.
Along with wire diameter and mesh density, another important
parameter in design and operation of a demisters is the vapour
velocity. This can be controlled by careful selection of the
eliminator area. Optimal area will depend on operating temperature,
pressure and pressure drop. Under normal operating conditions more
than 99% removal efficiency can be achieved with a pressure drop of
less than 250 Pascals.

Why Demisters from DemisterASIA?
Elimination of DA demisters are dependent on droplet sizes:
5 – 9 micron 99%
> 10 micron 99.5%
Most of the weight of entrained mist tends to be associated with
the larger mist particles (larger than 5 – 10μm) thus providing
greater than 99.99% weight removal.
Mesh demister (or named mesh mist eliminator) is used to gas
entrainment fog (droplet) remove, recycle expensive droplet
(precious materials), or purification of gas to reduce gas
impurities. Mesh mist eliminator is 0.15mm~0.25mm
corrosion-resitant metal wire or PP, PTFE and other engineering
plastics using a special wire woven wire mesh jingwei way, and then
pressed into a mesh-type wave (Wtype) formed after the cross-stack
of wire-mesh demister
In the general operation of chemical industry, the dispersed drops
in the gas, as usual, is with the diameter about 0.1～5000μm. For
the drop diameter above 100μm, it can be solved easily because of
its high sedimentation. For the drops diameter above 50μm, it can
be separated by gravitational settling method, and, for the
diameter above 5μm can by inertial impaction & centrifuge
method. But, for the drops diameter is less than the 5μm, it will
be congregated lager diameter, or be separated by using fiber
filter or static demister.
